The Photovoltaic Lab at RenewSys Bengaluru, is India's 1st NABL accredited laboratory and testing facility specifically for Encapsulants, Backsheets and their raw materials. An independently run facility, the lab is one of its kind that performs analytical and quality assurance tests for all polymers of Encapsulants and Backsheets

The majority of field failures of solar power plants are caused by substandard Encapsulants and Backsheets being used in PV modules. Thus, periodic testing beyond a simple visual checking, of these components becomes a significant indicator of PV module quality.

PV Module Manufacturers

To ensure the reliability of their modules' performance, test the quality of the Encapsulants and Backsheets.

Solar-project Developers, EPC companies and System Integrators

To affirm the reliability and quality of the polymer components (like Encapsulant and Backsheet) used in the modules, that are being installed in projects.

Encapsulant & Backsheet Manufacturers

To test raw materials that will be used in the manufacture of Encapsulants and Backsheets, and to use these test reports to supplement datasheets and product descriptions.

Some of the critical testing parameters include:

  • Gel content/Crosslinking rate

  • Adhesion Strength

  • Tensile Strength

  • Transparency

  • UV Cut-off Wavelength

  • Yellowness Index

  • Opacity

  • Volume Resistivity

  • Thickness

  • Density

  • Melt Flow Rate

  • Thermal Shrinkage

  • Wetting Tension of the Surface

  • Residual Solvent Content in the Backsheet
